Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit booktemplateco.shop or purchase our digital products.
Please read: this document is a general template provided for illustration only. It is not legal advice and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Before launching, you must have it reviewed and adapted by a qualified legal professional for your business, your jurisdiction, and the specific tools and services you actually use.
1. Introduction
booktemplateco.shop (“BookTemplateCo”, “we”, “us” or “our”) designs and sells premium digital ebook templates. We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your personal information carefully, lawfully and transparently.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to this website and to purchases made through our Shopify store.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Order information — your name, email address, billing address, country and the details of the products you purchase.
- Communications — the content of any email you send us, including your address and anything you choose to include in your message.
- Marketing preferences — your email address if you choose to subscribe to updates, and your subsequent choice to unsubscribe.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and the dates and times of your visits.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small files placed on your device, as described in section 5.
Information we do not collect
We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Card data is entered directly into our payment processor’s secure systems and is never accessible to us.
3. How we use your information
- To process orders, deliver your digital files and provide access to your purchase.
- To send transactional messages such as order confirmations, download links and receipts.
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- To send marketing communications where you have asked to receive them, and to manage your preferences.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve our website and product range.
- To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and technical problems.
- To comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to fulfil your order), consent (for marketing emails and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (to secure and improve our services and prevent fraud), and legal obligation (to keep records required by tax and accounting law).
5. Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help a website function and help its owner understand how it is used. We and our service providers may use:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for core functions such as security, session handling and the checkout process.
- Preference cookies — remember choices such as language or region.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages are visited and how the site performs, in aggregate.
- Marketing cookies — may be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising, where applicable.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site or checkout from working correctly.
6. Payment processing through Shopify
Purchases are completed on our storefront hosted by Shopify. When you check out, the personal and payment information you enter is collected and processed by Shopify Inc. and its payment providers, acting as independent data controllers or processors under their own terms and privacy policy.
Shopify may collect your name, email address, billing and delivery details, payment method information and transaction data, and may use cookies and fraud-prevention tools during checkout. We receive order details such as your name, email address and the products purchased, but we never receive your full card number, expiry date or security code.
We encourage you to read Shopify’s own privacy policy before completing a purchase. Our Shopify store is available at brandworkbookstudio.myshopify.com.
7. Communications and marketing
We will send you transactional messages relating to your order — these are necessary to deliver what you bought and cannot be opted out of while an order is being fulfilled.
Marketing emails are sent only where you have subscribed. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also withdraw consent at any time by emailing us. Note that the newsletter section shown on our homepage is currently a visual placeholder and does not collect or transmit any information.
8. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers — e-commerce and payment platforms (including Shopify), email delivery services, hosting providers and analytics tools, each processing data on our behalf under contract.
- Professional advisers — accountants and legal advisers where necessary.
- Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- Successors — in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or an adequacy decision covering the destination country.
10. Data retention
We keep order and transaction records for as long as required by tax and accounting law, typically several years. Support correspondence is retained while it remains relevant to your relationship with us. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.
11. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
- Receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@booktemplateco.shop. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
13. Children’s privacy
Our products and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Third-party links
Our site links to external websites, including our Shopify store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of sites we do not operate, and we recommend reading their policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date, and material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
16. Contact us
